It is now preparer tax identification number (PTIN) renewal season for 2027.

All PTINs expire on Dec. 31 and must be renewed annually.

You must have a valid PTIN if you plan to prepare any federal tax returns for compensation or you are an enrolled agent.

The renewal fee is $18.75 and non-refundable.

If you can’t remember your User ID or password, use the “Forgot User ID” or “Forgot Password” links on the PTIN system login page.
사용자 ID 또는 비밀번호가 기억나지 않는 경우, PTIN 시스템 로그인 페이지에서 “Forgot User ID”(사용자 ID 찾기) 또는 “Forgot Password”(비밀번호 찾기) 링크를 이용하십시오.

You will be asked to enter the email address associated with your account.
계정에 등록된 이메일 주소를 입력하라는 안내를 받게 됩니다.

If you won’t be preparing federal tax returns for compensation in 2027 and you’re not an enrolled agent, you can place your PTIN in voluntary inactive status.
2027년에 보수를 받고 연방 세금 신고서를 작성할 계획이 없고 등록세무사(EA)도 아닌 경우, PTIN을 자발적으로 비활성 상태로 전환할 수 있습니다.

This allows you to take the year off and easily reactivate your PTIN later.
이렇게 하면 해당 연도에 세금 신고서 작성 업무를 쉬었다가 나중에 PTIN을 쉽게 다시 활성화할 수 있습니다.

To do this, sign in to your PTIN account, go to “Edit Account Information” and select “Inactivate my PTIN” under “Account Actions”.
이를 위해 PTIN 계정에 로그인한 후 “Edit Account Information”(계정 정보 수정)으로 이동하여 “Account Actions”(계정 작업) 아래의 “Inactivate my PTIN”(PTIN 비활성화)을 선택하십시오.
